Frederick J Freiwald (March 15, 1928 – January 7, 2011)
Frederick J Freiwald died on January 7, 2011, surrounded by his family after a short illness. He was 82. Born in Jersey City to the late Frederick and Ceil (McCue) Freiwald on March 15, 1928, he was a resident of Boonton Township for many years.
Mr. Freiwald was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps from 1947 to 1951 when he was honorably discharged. He served in the Korean War.
During his tour of duty, Mr. Freiwald was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart.
He had been employed by Aircraft Radio Corp. in 1963 and later worked for RFL Industries. He retired in 1991. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R. C. Church in Boonton. Fred was a very kind and gentle man, who adored his family and friends. He will truly be missed by many. Mr. Freiwald was a member of the L/Cpl Robert J Slattery Marine Corps League, the Boontonites Seniors Club, and the Boonton Friendship Club.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Picconi. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Olga (nee Hominuk); three sons, Alan and his wife Lee of Salt Lake City, UT, Richard and his wife Carol of Knoxville, TN, and Ricky of Lake Hopatcong; three daughters, Jill Kolich and her husband Mark of Augusta, Sue Kellner and her husband Mark of Rockaway, and Sandy Chlodnicki of Milford PA; five grandchildren, Adam, Danielle, Ali, Danny, and Eva; one great-granddaughter, Makayla; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R. C. Church in Boonton and interment followed at Rockaway Valley Cemetery in Boonton Township.

Frederick Freiwald died on January 7, 2011.
