Carmen M. Yannuzzi, Sr. (Sept 18, 1928 – Apr 14, 2024)
Carmen M. Yannuzzi, Sr., 95, of East Hanover and a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 11, 1928, during the Great Depression, Carmen’s life was a testament to resilience, service, and love.
At a young age, Carmen exemplified his patriotism by joining the US Navy during World War II. He bravely served his country, embodying the spirit of duty and sacrifice. Following the war, Carmen continued his service, joining the US Marine Corps during the Korean War at the age of 25, even as a newly married man.
After his military service, Carmen worked in family business as owner-operator of Yannuzzi & Sons Trucking, before going on his own with CM Yannuzzi Trucking. His dedication and hard work were evident in every aspect of his life.
Carmen was married for 72 years to his beloved wife, Victoria, who predeceased him. Their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to all who knew them. Carmen was a devoted father to Carmen, Frank, and James, and a cherished parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
An active member of the community, Carmen was a life member of The Knights of Columbus, where he found camaraderie and purpose. In his leisure time, he found solace in his woodworking shop, where he crafted beautiful birdhouses, toy trucks, rocking horses, and his famous “JESUS” signs. Carmen’s hands were always busy, whether he was helping friends and family with projects or fixing whatever needed repair.
Above all else, Carmen treasured his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he reveled in every moment spent with them. Though he dearly missed his beloved Victoria every day since her passing, Carmen’s love for her endured, a testament to the depth of their bond.
Carmen M. Yannuzzi leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and kindness that will continue to inspire generations to come. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory be a blessing.
Devoted father of Carmen Yannuzzi, Jr., his wife Caroline, Frank Yannuzzi, his fiancé Karen Romano, and James P. Yannuzzi. Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Jimmy, his wife Tara, Nicky and his wife Jessica, Christopher, his wife Stephanie, Carmen III, Joseph and Alexa, Anthony, his wife Kirsten, and Frankie. Proud great-grandfather of Tommy, Meridan, Aubrey, Nicholas, Cameron, Hope and Marlena. Dear brother of James “Bootsie” Yannuzzi, Jr. and his wife June. Also survived by his daughter-in-law’s Trudy Yannuzzi and Marisa Yannuzzi, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Carmen was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Victoria of 72 years, his sister Louise Deberto and his brother Larry Yannuzzi.
Carmen’s funeral was on 18 April 2024 followed by entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
