The remarks were about the attire that he was wearing. The attire was utilities from Bruce Jenner who was a Slattery member until his demise in 2010 and a good friend of Petes and also a Korean War veteran. Gunny had gotten them from Bruce and promised Bruce he would wear them at his funeral. Pete liked the idea and made Gunny swear to the same promise. So “The Gunster” was up there with the herring bone faded utilities (after all they were 65+ years old), combat boots with laced up leggings, a steel camouflaged helmet and an M1 rifle telling the story.
